Despite snowy conditions that wiped out much of the area’s weekend schedule, the Columbus East boys swimming team was able to compete Saturday morning at the Shelbyville Relays, coming away with a sixth-place finish overall. Several Olympian relay groups turned in strong performances against the field. Ethan Kessler, Marvin Mauer, Ryan Lienhoop and Josh Pendleton delivered a runner-up finish in the 375-yard freestyle relay, touching the wall in 3:41.43. Another second-place effort came in the 200 medley relay, where Alex Stilson, Micah Wettschurack, Mason Bean and Kessler posted a time of 2:07.01. Columbus East also added a third-place showing in the 200 freestyle relay, with Bean, Pendleton, Kessler and Stilson combining for a time of 1:45.97, helping the Olympians secure their place in the final team standings.
