INDIANAPOLIS — The Columbus East varsity girls volleyball team earned its first victory of the season Saturday morning, finishing 1-2 across three matches at the Bishop Chatard Invitational. After dropping their opening matches to Terre Haute South and Union City, the Olympians closed out the tournament on a positive note by defeating host Bishop Chatard in three sets. Emma Armstrong recorded 17 kills, and Bailey Rohde added 12 kills. Playmaking & Assists: Kenlee Gault dished out 37 assists, while Jillian Chapple added 30 assists to direct the team's offense. Net Defense & Blocking: Emma Armstrong set the pace at the net with 14 blocks. Addy Dean recorded four blocks, and Cadence Smith finished with three blocks. Back-Row Defense & Serving: Kadence Miller picked up a team-high 22 digs, followed by Kenlee Gault with 13 digs and Shelby Williams with seven digs. Ava Tartt led the team behind the service line with three aces. The O's will remain road warriors when they head to Seymour, IN to face Hoosier Hills Conference opponent, the Seymour Owls on Tuesday, August 25th.
