Olympians Sweep Doubles, Dominate Road Match at Madison 4-1

MADISON, Ind. — The Columbus East Olympian boys tennis team turned in a sharp performance on the road, overpowering the host Madison High School Cubs 4-1 behind dominant doubles play and strong performances in singles. The Olympians set the tempo early in doubles play, controlling both courts from start to finish. At No. 1 doubles, senior Trevor Ernst teamed up with freshman Ritvik Prithiviraj to deliver a relentless performance, rolling past Madison's Brock Brandon and Eric Gonzalez-Maddox 6-1, 6-0. The No. 2 doubles tandem of junior Carson Hartsook and freshman Drew Lawson kept the momentum rolling, defeating Corbin Fischmer and Eli Baker 6-3, 6-1 to complete the doubles sweep. In singles action, senior Micah Wettschurack put on a masterclass at the No. 3 position, allowing only a single game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Jaydon Shook. Sophomore Kai Bergman added another point for East at No. 2 singles, handling Noah Meacham in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Madison's sole point of the evening came in a hard-fought battle at No. 1 singles. Columbus East sophomore Landon Reddleman struck first by taking the opening set 6-3, but Madison’s Carson Cammack rallied back to take the second set 6-2 before taking the 10-point match tiebreaker 10-2. In junior varsity action, freshman Calvin Hoy turned in a flawless performance at No. 1 JV singles, shutting out Parker Yowler 6-0, 6-0. Match Results: No. 1 Singles: Carson Cammack (M) def.
