The good news: The Olympians came out strong for being the first meet of the season. The bad news: The H2O's came up a tad short, falling to Bloomington North 98-87 at the CEHS swimming complex on Saturday morning. The H2O's were lead by a strong performance from Gabbie Meier, who broke her own six dive school record with a score of 266.55. The O's also won five swimming events - Freshman Connelly Furnish won the 200 yard individual medley in 2:24 and the 100 butterfly in 1:06.18. Senior Ali Trueblood won the 100 breaststroke in 1:20.77. Cassidy Furnish captured the 500 freestyle in 1:06.19 and Connelly Furnish, Meier, Cassidy Furnish, and Kira VanValkenburg wrapped up the 400 freestyle relay in 4:07.80. Other scoring for the H2O's: The Olympians' second-place finishers included Saya Hauser in the 50 freestyle (28.87), Abby Proffitt in the 500 freestyle (5:58.96), and Maddie Beyer in the 100 breaststroke (1:28.65). In the 200 medley relay (2:06.06), Proffitt, Ali Trueblood, Cassidy Furnish, and Connelly Furnish secured second place, while the 200 freestyle relay (1:56.49) saw Ali Trueblood, Hauser, Meier, and VanValkenburg claiming the runner-up spot. East achieved third-place finishes with Cassidy Furnish in the 200 freestyle (2:12.99), VanValkenburg in the 200 IM (2:41.24), Hauser in the 100 freestyle (1:06.03), and Hannah Dean in the 100 backstroke (1:17.19). It's a young season, with younger student-athletes in some important positions. The H2O's are likely to see major improvement as the season progresses. The Lady O's are back in action Tuesday, November 14th, as they head to New Albany, IN to participate in the New Albany Relays starting 6:30 p.m.
