Columbus East — On a very nice spring night at the Olympian Tennis Complex, the Columbus East girls tennis team put together a composed and confident showing, picking up a 3-2 win over visiting Edinburgh. The victory reflected the team’s steady growth this season, as several players delivered poised performances in key spots. Lauren Degner set the tone early at No. 1 singles, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Gracie Lawson. Her control and consistency kept her opponent off balance throughout the match. At No. 3 singles, Bruna Carreira matched that focus, blanking her opponent Sophia Pace 6-0, 6-0 in another clean effort from the back of the court. With the match tied at 2-2, the deciding point came at No. 1 doubles. After dropping the first set, Saya Hauser and Zoe White regrouped and fought their way back, eventually winning 2-6, 7-5, 6-2. The duo’s ability to adjust and stick together under pressure was a highlight of the evening. Edinburgh picked up wins at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles, but the Olympians showed composure across the board and were able to come away with a well-earned result. The team continues to focus on development and gaining match experience, and Wednesday’s performance was another positive step forward.
