The Columbus East boys volleyball team faced a tough opponent in the Greenwood Woodmen on Monday night, falling in straight sets—25-16, 25-20, 25-18—at the Orange Pit. Greenwood set the tone early, racing out to a double-digit lead in the first set and never relinquishing control. The Olympians showed some fight in the second, briefly leading 9-8 and staying close at 12-11, but the Woodmen regained momentum and closed out the set. The third frame saw East trailing from the start, unable to overcome the deficit. Despite the loss, several Olympians made notable contributions. Ian Scholl delivered five kills and three blocks, while Alex Duncan led the offense with 15 assists, an ace, two kills, two blocks, and three digs. Alex Wenzler added three blocks, an ace, and three kills of his own. Defensively, Tyler Ernst posted four digs, and Justin Lopez chipped in with an ace and two kills. Keaton Stephenson also added a pair of kills, and Scholl picked up three digs to go with his net play. Now sitting at 9-12 on the season, Columbus East will look to rebound quickly. The team hits the road for matches at New Albany on Wednesday and Silver Creek on Thursday before returning home for a rivalry showdown against Columbus North on Friday.
