The Columbus East girls tennis team faced off against Hoosier Hills Conference rival Seymour on Wednesday, coming up short in a 4-1 team loss to the visiting Owls. Junior standout Lauren Degner continued her impressive season at No. 1 singles, delivering a flawless performance with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep to earn the Olympians’ lone match win of the night. Elsewhere in singles action, Bruna Carreira battled at No. 2 but came up short, dropping a 6-1, 6-0 decision. Luci Morales was defeated 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. In doubles play, Lilli Smith and Zoe White fell 6-1, 6-1 at the top spot, while Stephani Christopher and Saya Hauser lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2. The Olympians will look to regroup as they prepare for the final stretch of the regular season. The O's have a match tonight (5/8-5:15 p.m.) @ Batesville High School and then finish out the regular season with the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament next week. Finish strong O's!!
