Columbus East Olympian Unified Track Team Shines at Bloomington South Invite

Wednesday’s Unified meet at Bloomington High School South saw the Columbus East Olympians take on host Bloomington South and the Center Grove Trojans, and the Olympians turned in several strong performances across both the boys’ and girls’ divisions. Below is a recap of the Columbus East student‑athletes’ highlights from Wednesday night. Boys’ Highlights Boys 100‑Meter Dash Ryne Fish (12) was the top Olympian finisher, placing 5th in the final with a season‑best 13.37 seconds . John Tembo* (10) clocked 16.68 for 39th overall, gaining valuable experience in a deep field . Adam Stott (11), Eduardo Hernandez (10), Bohdan Stein (10), and Jacob Hefner (12) all logged solid sprints, each competing in the later heats and improving upon their early‑season times . Boys 400‑Meter Dash John Tembo continued his versatility with a 1:30.05 clocking, good for 10th overall and demonstrating strong endurance after his 100‑meter effort earlier in the evening . Zander Anderson* (10) battled to a 1:59.81 finish, gaining valuable mid‑distance experience . Boys Long Jump John Tembo leaped 5‑11 in the pit, placing 42nd, while Zander Anderson recorded a 5‑8½ jump for 43rd . Freshman Ethan Kessler competed but fouled all attempts, a reminder of the technical challenge of the event . Boys Shot Put Ryne Fish capped the day with a runner‑up finish in the shot put, throwing 35‑2 to earn second place . Girls’ Highlights Girls 100‑Meter Dash Rahianna Logan (12) was the top Olympian sprinter, running 15.13 seconds to place 19th overall . Cadence Smith (9), Breana Hatcher (10), Elliana Glick (9), and Gabrielle Albro (9) all posted sub‑18‑second times, showcasing the depth of the squad . Girls 400‑Meter Dash Sadie Harris (12) set a solid pace in the quarter‑mile with a 1:27.14 effort, finishing 9th overall . Sophie Anderson (12) and Mayleigh Hardwick (10) also ran strong sections, clocking 1:45.60 and 1:54.15, respectively . Girls 4×100‑Meter Relay The Olympians’ relay team of Mayleigh Hardwick, Giselle Landero‑Gonzalez, Gabrielle Albro, and Ellie Burbrink crossed the line in 1:39.15 to place 4th, a respectable showing against deeper squads . Girls Long Jump Rahianna Logan recorded an 11‑11 leap for 20th, while Elliana Glick (11‑3½) and Jordan Wolfe (9‑7) added further scoring jumps . Girls Shot Put Sadie Harri anchored the throwers with a 22‑9 effort, placing 11th overall . Teammates Lydia Barrentine, Sophie Anderson, Cadence Smith, and Breana Hatcher each contributed by throwing over 15 feet, demonstrating a growing strength in the throws group . Additional Columbus East Contributions Beyond the highlights already noted, several other Olympians turned in strong individual efforts: Boys Shot Put: Adam Stott (11) threw 13‑8, placing 35th overall. Eduardo Hernandez (10) added a 13‑0 mark for 37th place. Bohdan Stein (10) registered 12‑7 for 38th. Jacob Hefner (12) rounded out the group with a 12‑2 effort . Girls 100‑Meter Dash: Emily Vogel (11) dipped under 18 seconds with a 17.72 effort. Mya Blanton (10) posted a season best of 17.34. Lydia Barrentine (10) clocked 17.44. Addison Emery (12) ran 17.76. Ellie Burbrink (9) finished in 18.38. Marleigh Stidham (9) and Anna Myers (10) both recorded 18.42 splits Girls Long Jump: Mya Blanton leapt 8‑11 for 33rd overall. Marleigh Stidham posted 8‑10½ for 34th. Jordan Wolfe added a 9‑7 jump, placing 31st Looking Ahead Columbus East’s Unified squad showed determination and growth at the Bloomington South meet. Standout performances from Ryne Fish in both the 100m and shot put, combined with solid relay execution and depth across sprints and field events, signal a team on the rise. The Olympians will look to build on these results as they head into the final regular season meet, the Hoosier Hills Conference meet at Seymour High School, tonight (5/15). Meet begins at 5:30 p.m.
