Columbus East High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Christian Brown as the new head coach of the Columbus East Olympian baseball program. Coach Brown brings six years of high school coaching experience and a proven record of success. He began his coaching career at Beech Grove High School, serving as JV head coach, varsity assistant, outfield coach and catchers coach. Most recently, Brown coached at Indianapolis Lutheran, where he worked with both the football and baseball programs. During his time there, he was part of two state-championship football teams and a football semi-state finalist. In baseball, he helped the program reach the semi-state final in 2024 and guided the team to the school’s first-ever baseball state championship this past season. “I’m excited and honored to return home to Columbus,” Coach Brown said. “This community and East’s tradition of athletic excellence means a lot to me. My goal is to build a program that competes every day, develops strong young men and represents Columbus East with pride on and off the field.” Coach Brown outlined a clear vision for the program. Short-term priorities include earning buy-in from upperclassmen and implementing an aggressive baserunning and hitting approach. Long-term goals focus on sustained program growth, player and coach development, and competing for championships. Brown emphasized relationship-building, accountability and community involvement as the cornerstones of his approach. “I want our players to be leaders in the classroom and the community as well as on the field,” he said. “When expectations are clear and accountability is consistent, teams succeed — both on the scoreboard and in life.” A graduate of Franklin Central High School, Brown has deep ties to the Columbus area. “My family has strong roots in Columbus,” he said. “I grew up here, and I want our program to be a visible, positive force in the community — from youth baseball initiatives to holiday service projects.” Coach Brown and his wife, Abby, have a young son, Roman, who recently started T-ball. Coach Brown described himself as a high-energy coach with an open-door policy who values competition, hard work and mutual respect. The Columbus East athletic department welcomes Coach Christian Brown and looks forward to the upcoming season.
