The Columbus East freshman football team stayed unbeaten Saturday morning, earning a 14-6 victory at Bloomington South to improve to 3-0 on the season. This was the second meeting between the two programs this fall, as Seymour Owls did not field a freshman team this year and would have been today's opponent. The Olympians also topped the Panthers on August 23, posting a 14-0 shutout in their home opener. After falling behind 6-0 at halftime in Saturday’s rematch, East stormed back with two second-half touchdowns. Eli Dykstra scored to get the Olympians on the board, and Jayden Dehart provided a game-changing defensive play with a 60-yard fumble return for a touchdown. The defense continued to shine with multiple takeaways. Frank Phillips and Luke Lienhoop (two interceptions) halted Panther drives, while Draven Day added another fumble recovery late to help secure the win. The Olympians will look to extend their perfect start as the season rolls on when they host Brownstown Central Saturday, September 13th. 10 a.m. kickoff.
