Columbus East Heads to the Lapel Volleyball Invitational — Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025

Columbus East players, families and friends — get ready for a full day of volleyball action! The Olympians will compete at the Lapel Volleyball Invitational on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Lapel High School. Columbus East is in Pool A with: Lapel (Pool A — #1) Alexandria (Pool A — #2) Columbus East (Pool A — #3) Bishop Luers (Pool A — #4) Pool play begins at 9:00 a.m. (gym doors open at 8:00 a.m.). Pool A’s match order is listed as follows: Pool A — 1 vs 2 (Lapel vs Alexandria) Pool A — 3 vs 4 (Columbus East vs Bishop Luers) ← Columbus East’s first pool match Pool A — 1 vs 3 (Lapel vs Columbus East) ← Columbus East’s second pool match Pool A — 2 vs 4 (Alexandria vs Bishop Luers) Pool A — 1 vs 4 (Lapel vs Bishop Luers) Pool A — 2 vs 3 (Alexandria vs Columbus East) ← Columbus East’s third pool match After pool play the crossover matches set final places: Pool winners play for the championship, 2nd-place teams play for 3rd/4th, 3rd-place teams play for 5th/6th, and 4th-place teams play for 7th/8th. Each team will play four matches total (three pool matches + one crossover match). Format & Tie-breakers Matches: Best 2 of 3 sets to 25 (no caps). Pool tie-breakers: 1) head-to-head, 2) fewest sets lost, 3) fewest points scored against, 4) coin toss. What players, coaches and families should know: Location / Entrance: Lapel High School Gym — Door #15 (team & fan entrance). First matches start: 9:00 a.m. — doors open 8:00 a.m. Entry for fans: All-day ticket $10 (card only) — no cash sales. Tickets available at the gate via card or online. > Bleacher seating will be limited in the gymnasium with two courts going at once. Spectators are encouraged to bring fold-out camping chairs for additional seating. > Warm-ups: First match = 15-minute regular warm-up. Subsequent matches use a 4-on / 4-off warm-up format. Bring your own warm-up volleyballs. > Scorekeeping / Line Judges: Each team must provide one scorekeeper/libero tracker (scorekeeper admitted free) and one line judge per match. The first team listed is the home team. > Team areas / locker rooms: Shared locker rooms available; cafeteria may be used for team areas. > Hospitality / Trainer: Hospitality rooms (for coaches/officials/tourney staff) are in the media center. An athletic trainer (Central Indiana Orthopedics) will be on site. Awards: Team champion trophy. All-Tournament medals: 6 individual medals chosen by coach voting. Quick checklist for families & players Arrive early (doors open 8:00 a.m.). Bring warm-up ball(s) and court shoes. Make sure your team has a trained scorekeeper and a line judge for each match. Bring a card for tickets (no cash sales). Pack water/snacks and plan a team area in the cafeteria if needed. Good luck, Olympians — play hard and have fun representing Columbus East!
