Resilient East Tops Shelbyville in Non-Conference Clash

The Columbus East girls volleyball team showed resilience Monday night in Shelbyville, rallying from an opening-set loss to defeat the Golden Bears in four sets. After dropping the first set 22-25, the Olympians responded with three straight wins, 27-25, 25-18, 25-16, to secure the non-conference victory. Lilah Klei powered the East attack with 15 kills and added eight blocks at the net. Setter Payten Osborn was a difference-maker, dishing out 19 assists, serving four aces, and digging up 13 balls. Defensively, Krea Martin anchored the back row with 16 digs while also contributing a pair of assists and three aces. Kaidence Miller chipped in four aces and eight digs, while Chloe Gill added three aces of her own. The Olympians also saw balanced production across the lineup. Addy Dean tallied eight kills and six blocks, Izzy Rice put down five kills, and Kenlee Gault recorded 12 assists. At the net, Anika Jenkins and Cadence Smith each contributed two blocks. The Olympians will be back in action this Saturday, September 13, competing in the Lapel Volleyball Invitational. More info will be available about the Lapel Invite later in the week.
